insula under Moses’ leadership (Num 14:33)? The date for A2 in November of the exodus-year coincides with a silent period in Biblical history. Exodus concludes with Israel near Mount Sinai, though Moses parenthetically adds a retrospective summary of how the Lord guided them during their subsequent journeys (Exod 40:36–38). Meanwhile, Numbers begins in the 14th month after the exodus (Num 1:1), about five months after A2 concluded. Therefore, A2 fits into this silent period, with no inherent conflict between the capture of the 3,600 Israelites—who probably left the Israelite camp and journeyed toward southern Palestine, near the travel route of A2—and the Biblical events that transpired after the exodus.159IX. AMENHOTEP II AND THE DESECRATION OF HATSHEPSUT’S IMAGEEgyptian history itself may confirm that Amenhotep II was the exodus-pharaoh. The Thutmosid succession entered into an extraordinary phase at the death of Thutmose II, as the throne was given first to his son, Thutmose III, and later assumed as well by his widow, Hatshepsut. Her rise to power resulted from her position as the child-king’s regent; given his youthfulness, her self-appointment to the rank of coregent probably met little or no opposition within the royal court.160 Sometime between Year 2 and Year 4 of Thutmose III, Hatshepsut assumed full royal titulary, making herself a female pharaoh of equal rank.1611. Identifying Moses’ Adoptive Mother.Moses evidently was born during the reign of Thutmose I, whose daughter, Hatshepsut, qualifies as a legitimate candidate for the pharaoh’s daughter who drew Moses from the Nile River (Exod 2:5).162 Was she old enough during her father’s second regnal year, most likely the time in which Moses was born (ca. 1527 BC), to qualify as his Egyptian stepmother?a. Hatshepsut’s Age Viewed as Being Insufficient. One scenario may preclude Hatshepsut from being the princess who drew Moses from the Nile. The chief wife of Thutmose I, Queen Ahmose, was called “the King’s Sister,” but never “the King’s Daughter,” a title given only to a princess. Egyptians generally were not reserved about recording ranks and titles, so this reticence may indicate that Ahmose was not a pharaoh’s daughter, and thus was neither the daughter nor the sister of Amenhotep I. Instead, she may have been the sister or half-sister of Thutmose I. If this were true, a brother-sister marriage almost certainly would have occurred after Thutmose I was promoted to heir apparent, as incestuous marriages are extremely rare outside of the immediate royal family, and such political matches that consolidated a would-be successor’s claim to the throne were standard procedure in ancient Egypt.163 Perhaps, then, Hatshepsut was born after Thutmose I was coronated (ca. 1529 BC), and thus was barely over twelve years old when she married her (half-)brother (ca. 1516 BC). This means that Hatshepsut would have been less than three years of age at the time of Moses’ birth, at which age she hardly could have ventured down to the Nile, let alone draw out an infant-bearing reed basket from the river.b. Hatshepsut’s Age Viewed as Being Sufficient. Yet there is no proof that Hatshepsut was born after her father’s accession, and the current lack of attestation to Queen Ahmose being a “King’s Daughter” does not preclude her from being the daughter of Amenhotep I. In addition, the uncertainty about when Thutmose II’s reign began means that he may have served as co-regent with his father, Thutmose I, for several years before he ruled alone. Hatshepsut thus would have been of sufficient age to draw Moses out of the Nile during her father’s second regnal year, so she remains a legitimate candidate for Moses’ Egyptian adoptive-mother, especially since her father was already over 35 years old when he assumed the throne.c. Hatshepsut’s Sister Akhbetneferu as a Candidate. Is Hatshepsut the only candidate for Moses’ royal adoptive-mother? Confusion exists over the number of children actually born to Thutmose I and Queen Ahmose. Only two daughters, Hatshepsut and her sister, Princess Akhbetneferu, are known to have been born to the royal couple. However, Princess Akhbetneferu died in infancy, so she cannot qualify as a candidate for the princess who found Moses, leaving Hatshepsut as the only known daughter of Thutmose I who does qualify.164d. Hatshepsut’s Potential Step-Sister as a Candidate. One other option exists for Moses’ adoptive-mother, but not through Queen Ahmose. Thutmose I had a secondary wife named Queen Mutnofret, the mother of Thutmose II. Little is known of her but that she was a person of rank, probably even royal blood, as an inscription at Karnak calls her “the King’s Daughter.” Mutnofret, and not Ahmose, actually appears in the king’s mortuary chapel alongside the royal princes Ramose and Wadjmose, both of whom probably died before their father.165 Therefore, perhaps even numerous princes were born before their father married Ahmose.

No princesses are known to have been mothered by Mutnofret,
but the possibility does exist; if Mutnofret did bear a daughter, undoubtedly this princess—given the ages of the princes—would have been old enough to qualify.e. Hatshepsut’s Position as the Most Likely Candidate. All of the evidence points to Hatshepsut as the most likely candidate for Moses’ stepmother, for several reasons: (1) Hatshepsut’s blood-sister, Princess Akhbetneferu, was the only other daughter whom Queen Ahmose is known to have borne, but her death in infancy eliminates her candidacy. (2) Lady Mutnofret bore several sons to Thutmose I before she died, but there is no indication that she ever bore him any daughters.166 (3) The text of Exod 2:10 states that after “the child [Moses] grew, she [his mother] brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son.” Therefore, Moses’ Egyptian stepmother obviously lived a considerable length of time after she retrieved him from the Nile, increasing the likelihood that an account of this “Daughter of Pharaoh” (Exod 2:5) would be documented and preserved somewhere in the Egyptians’ detailed records, a qualification true of Hatshepsut alone.2. Identifying the Defacer of Hatshepsut’s Image. At some indeterminable time after Hatshepsut’s death, a serious attempt was made to obliterate all record of her from history. Many inscribed cartouches of her were erased, while her busts were smashed or broken into pieces, perhaps by gangs of workmen dispatched to various sites throughout Egypt. In some cases, the culprits carefully and completely hacked out the silhouette of her image from carvings, often leaving a distinct, Hatshepsut-shaped lacuna in the middle of a scene, often as a preliminary step to replacing it with a different image or royal cartouche, usually that of Thutmose I or II.167 At Karnak, her obelisks were walled-up and incorporated into the vestibule in front of Pylon V, while at Djeser-Djeseru her statues and sphinxes were removed, smashed, and cast into trash dumps.1Rosetta Stone Spanish

980: 37). The destruction of the charnel houses at Bab edh-Dhra was brought about by the roofs first being set on fire, then collapsing, causing the i

ra (Ben-Tor 1992: 123). It is entirely within the realm of possibility, therefore, that the destruction of Bab edh-Dhra and Numeira could have occurred at the Biblical date of ca. 2070 BC. We shall have to await further discoveries before an accurate archaeological date can be assigned to the end of EB III.Time of Year When the Destruction Occurred There is one additional correlation that can be made between the Biblical record and the archaeological findings—the time of year when the earthquake occurred. As pointed out by William Shea, the time can be set at late spring or early summer (1988: 21–22). When the angels visited Abraham the Lord announced, "I will surely return to you in the spring, and Sarah your wife shall have a son"..."At the appointed time I will return to you, in the spring, and Sarah shall have a son" (Gn 18:10, 14, RSV). If we assume that conception occurred approximately one month after the announcement, it would place the visit of the angels, and thus the destruction of the Cities of the Plain, in the late spring or early summer. The well-preserved ruins at Numeira produced a number of surprises, including whole grapes. (11) During the 1977 season a large cache was found. It is remarkable, for example, that the grapes in Locus 17 of SE 3/1 were preserved even with their outer skins, due perhaps to the burning material which collapsed over the area and sealed these items (Rast 1981: 43). Although carbonized whole grapes have been reported from Salamis, Hesban and Jericho, the size of the Numeira hoard, which consisted of over 700 whole grapes, is very uncommon (McCreery 1981: 168). The fact that the grapes were intact indicates that they were freshly harvested. In the hot climate of the Dead Sea valley the harvesting of grapes occurs earlier than other parts of the country—in the late spring or early summer. In the 1981 season more grapes were found, prompting the excavator to comment on the chronological implications: The infrequent small finds included...more whole carbonized grapes with the stems attached and what preliminary analysis indicates were carbonized watermelon seeds (both evidence for dating the destruction of the site to late spring) (Coogan 1984:77). Conclusion When the archaeological, geographical and epigraphic evidence is reviewed in detail, it is clear that the infamous cities of Sodom and Gomorrah have now been found. What is more, this evidence demonstrates that the Bible provides an accurate eyewitness account of events that occurred southeast of the Dead Sea over 4,000 years ago. Recommended Resources for Further StudyBible and SpadeCD-ROM Archaeology andthe Old Testament Bible and SpadeSummer 1999 Footnotes (1) For previous articles on Sodom and Gomorrah in Bible and Spade, see Wood 1974, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983; Shea 1988.(2) Large pools of water can be observed in the former area of the southern basin, but these are artificial ponds associated with thriving potash industries operated by Israel and Jordan. Water from the Dead Sea is directed to the pools (salt pans) where it is evaporated, allowing valuable salts to be harvested.(3) The Lisan peninsula divides the main, northern, body of the Dead Sea from the shallow southern basin.(4) We find such references only for Zoar. There are no later references to the other Cities of the Plain, Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah or Zeboiim, as living communities.(5) The "Valley of Siddim (the Salt Sea)" in Genesis 14:3, 8 and 10 is undoubtedly the shallow basin south of the Lisan Peninsula which, in later times when the level of the Dead Sea was higher, became an extension of the Dead Sea. The valley had many pits of hemor or bitumen. This asphalt-like petroleum product was commonly found in the southern basin of the Dead Sea throughout antiquity. The name "Siddim" derives from the verb saded which means "to harrow." Wherever the verb is used in the Old Testament, it is in an agricultural context (Jb 39:10; Is 28:24; Hos 10:11) (Howard 1988a).(6) It is possible that these two events, the attack of the coalition of Mesopotamian

kings described in Genesis 14 and the destruction
Cities of the Plain described in Genesis 19, were significant contributing factors in the demise of the Early Bronze III culture in Canaan.(7) The original epigrapher of the Ebla expedition, Giovanni Pettinato, claimed in 1976 to have found the names Sodom, Gomorrah and Zoar/Bela in the Ebla tablets. Alfonso Archi, Pettinato's successor as Ebla epigrapher, vigorously contested this. See the discussion in Shea 1983: 608–609.(8) 1450 Exodus (1 Kgs 6:1; Jgs 11:26) + 430, length of Egyptian Sojourn (Ex 12:40), + 130, Jacob's age when he entered Egypt (Gn 47:9), + 60, Isaac's age when Jacob was born (Gn 25:26), + 1, the pregnancy of Sarah with Isaac = 2071 BC.(9) Carbon 14 dates for the end of the EB III period at both Bab edh-Dhra and Numeira are much too early and have been disregarded by the excavators (Rast and Schaub 1980: 45–47). Similarly, C14 dates for the end of the succeeding EB IVA period of 2200 BC (Schaub 1993:136), may be too early.(10) The end of EB III is given as 2350 BC in the AnRosetta Stone German

Boost Your Traffic with SEO SitemapBy: Adam Bell .... Click author's name to view profile and articles!!!Retargeting by ChangoTweet Internet search engines, such as Google and A9, maintain a very large database of Web pages and available files. To do this, they devise a program called a web crawler, or spider. This software automatically and continuously surfs and hunts content in the Web. Pages that the spider finds are retrieved and indexed according to text content, giving more weight to titles and paragraph headers. Spiders never stop navigating the web from page to page, to index the relevant content of the Internet. Besides looking at the text of titles and headers, some programs are able to identify default tags and keep a library of these page keywords or key phrases in the index. When a user connects to the Internet types a query, which is automatically interpreted as keywords, the search engine scans the saved index and creates a list of web pages that is most appropriate to what the user is searching for. SEO will use all the bined techniquesNHL Jersey
of keyword analysis, smart code, good content literature, link popularity study and website organization to place the subject web page as high as possible in the list of search results in search engines. Web pages displayed on the top of results pages are assumed to get the most attention, and therefore, opportunity for earnings for web businesses and pages with sponsor links.Search engines usually return a list of results ranking pages according to the number of Internet sites linked to them. Results can be classified as organic, or sponsored links. Sponsored links are shown prominently because their creators or agents paid the search engine. Sponsored links are the main source of ine of search engines.Organic search results are the lists of actual results from the engines index and are directly related to the keyword typed in the request. One of the more effective techniques of SEO is the creation of a well-organized site map in a website. Since the sites main page and other content are directly linked to a site map, spiders can more easily move through the website, Detroit Red Wings jersey
identify the key words of the content, and index these for a search engine. This is where the SEO sitemap helps the website creator or administrator.Site maps are usually pages filled with links. These are shown as tables or lists, although lists are generally more effective. Writing code for SEO sitemaps is very easy and simple to format and maintain. These are ideally basic HTML pages with default tags, logical titles and keywords scattered in the Meta description. Introduction areas can contain more of the keywords. The site should have a main heading for every directory. A simple list layout helps reduce unnecessary tags that might hide your keywords. Some spiders give more weight to the following, than text in the normal body of the webpage: heading text, content within link elements, text nearer the top of the page and the text written for a link. Therefore, writing the keywords and links in these areas could somehow move up the web page ranking. This goes for SEO sitemaps as well.Web sites should be designed consistently, so navigation models should follow Red Wings jersey
the flow of the site map. Therefore, the first section in the site map should be the first link in the navigation bar. In an SEO Sitemap, and most pages, the headings contain title attributes where more key phrases in the site map can be added. Keywords are generally well chosen and written in the body of a webpage. However, in an SEO site map with little text, key words should be added as much as possible. As much as possible, web links should follow web page titles, and must undergo SEO during coding. Care must be exercised not to cram the page with keywords and links, or the page will be interpreted as blatant spamming and not receive any traffic at all. There is no way to guarantee that a website will be shown in the topmost ranking of "organic" search results for an extended period of time. However, smart and responsible SEO sitemap techniques can be used to place the website high up in the search position. Regular monitoring and adjustment of the SEO Sitemap and search results would ensure that a website is kept near the top ranking and receiving lots of web user traffic.Article Source: abcarticledirectoryIf you interested in finding the best information then go to thearticleking.Note: The content of this article solely conveys the opinion of its author, Adam BellRetargeting by ChangoDid You Like This Article? Cam Newton showed why he is one of the top QBs in the country by throwing for two TDs and running for three more to have a hand in all five of Auburn's touchdowns on the afternoon. This week we travel to Dallas for the annual Red River Rivalry between No. 21 Texas and No. 8 Oklahoma. Texas enters the game looking for redemption after losing at home to UCLA, 34-12. Oklahoma had struggles of their own, but came out on top 31-29 at Cincinnati. Oklahoma is led by sophomore QB Landry Jones who has thrown for over 1200 yards this season, including nine TDs. His main target is junior Ryan Broyles who has 41 receptions and 4 TDs. Brian A. Westerholt/Getty ImagesEach Monday morning, Whatifsports.com's NCAA college football simulation engine will provide you with game predictions for every D-I FBS game that upcoming week. The college football simulation engine generates detailed information for each game, including the home team's chances of winning (Home Win%) and the average points scored for both teams.Make sure to share the college football information you gained here with your friends by either checking out our NCAA football widgets on the WhatIf To Go page or clicking on the social networking share bar at the top and bottom of this article.Check out our 2010 College Football Season-to-Date page to follow our accuracy and for Locks and Upsets of the Week. The statistical inputs to the thousands of college football Houston Texans jersey
simulations are based on rigorous analysis of each team's roster, depth charts, and statistically-based player rankings. Roster modifications are made in cases of injury or suspension, and those players are removed from their teams' game simulations for that week.Game of the Week: Arkansas (10) vs. Alabama (1)With the first pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...Ryan Mallett, quarterback, University of Arkansas.Woo Pig Sooie. It's hard to avoid placing the cart before the horse in college football. Heck, America was ready to crown Denard Robinson the Heisman Trophy winner after Week 2 before he ran into that FCS juggernaut Massachusetts last Saturday.Coincidentally, it was also the Wolverines who saw Mallett and his 6'7" frame walk out of the Big House following the arrival of Rich Rodriguez and his spread offense. After sitting out the 2008 campaign, Mallett made Bobby Petrino's second year in Fayetteville a bit easier. The former backup to Chad Henne racked up stats hefty enough to rank him in the top 10 in most passing categories. He possessed a QB rating of 152.5 and tossed 30 touchdowns his redshirt sophomore season. That was just an appetizer of what was to come this season. Although Tennessee Tech and Louisiana-Monroe aren't the definition of college football excellence, the Razorbacks caught the attention of many with their win over Georgia on the road last weekend. Mallett's NFL stock continued to soar as he threw for 380 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions against the Dawgs. With the Razorbacks now ranked 10th in our weekly power rankings, Mallett will try to lead Arkansas to the biggest win in the Petrino era by beating top-ranked Alabama on Saturday. The Tide didn't miss a beat with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram watching from the sidelines in Weeks 1 and 2. Backup bulldozer Trent Richardson picked up the slack and proved he has the talents to lead this team to another BCS win.Well, Ingram returned this week against Duke. Let's just say the knee looks fine.It took Ingram three plays to rush for over 100 yards against the Blue Devils. He later scored two touchdowns on rushes of one and 17 yards. Not a bad first quarter. Now the 3-0 Tide faces its second challenge in three weeks. Alabama controlled the tempo in their game against Penn State and dominated on both sides of the ball. They'll need more of the same to survive this SEC test and the uber pass-happy Razorbacks.Using our college football simulation engine, we simulated Arkansas versus Alabama 101 times. In the end, the Crimson Tide won over 79 percent of the time by an average score of 37-30. Taking a closer look at the box score, the Tide does its damage on the ground (5.1 ypc), while Mallett focuses his efforts on the passing game (342 yards pass/game).College Football Week 4Matchup Win% Avg ScoreFlorida International Golden Panthers5.011@ Maryland Terrapins95.038Virginia Military Keydets5.07@ Virginia Cavaliers95.044North Carolina State Wolfpack7.922@ Georgia Tech Yellow Indianapolis Colts jersey

18 Jan 11 Boise State Broncos: The Background and What Drives The Broncos

Geoff Burke/Getty ImagesAs a life-long fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and since 1992 a fan of the Southeastern Conference, I, like many, have had trouble grasping the idea that a school outside of an automatic qualifying conference, could ever break into what has undoubtedly become the "good ole boy" system that is the BCS.I didn't want to believe that a team such as the Boise State Broncos, possessed the talent to compete with the big boys in college football. And after writing an article that was solely based on my opinion about said Boise State, and after receiving Reebok Baltimore Ravens #52 Ray Lewis Realtree camo Jersey
feedback, I decided to do a little research and find out more about BSU.My findings are quite interesting, as well as impressive.I'm sure that Bronco Nation may be fully aware of any and all things they might read, but I'm willing to bet that many people will be surprised.Boise State University was founded in 1932 as Boise Junior College by the Episcopal Church and remained so for only two years. In 1965, the school became Boise College after gaining its four year status. In 1969 the school was renamed yet again to Boise State College after joining the Idaho School System for Higher Education. It wasn't until 1974 that Boise State became Boise State University, becoming Idaho's third University.I think that those who were unaware of the progress that this university has made should let this information sink in. Now let's move on to the athletic program. This university has gone from a junior college, to a four year college, to a full-blown universitySince 1999, Boise State has a record of 93-17 as a member of the Big West Conference in 1999 and 2000, and moving on to the Western Athletic Conference, after the Big West Conference discontinued its sponsorship of collegiate football in 2000.Throughout the last 11 years, BSU has won nine conference titles. Two of those titles came in their final two years as members of the Big West Conference, and winning the WAC title from 2002-2006 and 2008-2009. That tradition is almost certainly to continue this year as the Boise State Broncos have started the 2010 season with strong showings in victories over Virginia Tech 33-30 and rival Wyoming 51-6, and are heading into a top-25 matchup with Oregon State. The fact of the matter is that while I could easily sit here and tell you all the reasons why Boise State should not be considered for a National Championship, Reebok Chicago Bears #54 Brian Urlacher Realtree camo Jersey
or that BSU doesn't deserve it's No. 3 ranking, I can now, easily give you twice as many reasons why they should be exactly where they are.You see, previous to actually researching Boise State University, I figured that they were just another school, who had beat a few good teams and thought the world owed them something. While BSU does lack a BCS computer friendly schedule, its not BSU's fault. When Boise State has had the opportunity to play the "big boys," they have been successful. In the 2007, the Boise State Broncos knocked off the Oklahoma Sooners, 43-42, in overtime, on the famous variation of the Statue of Liberty play for the two-point conversion.More recently, the Boise State Broncos began the 2010 season knocking off then-No. 13 Virginia Tech, 33-30.Many AQ teams don't want to play Boise State, due simply to the fact that they have nothing to gain, but everything to lose in the eyes of the sports world. And now that I have a better understanding of this university, I hope that these same AQ teams that say Boise State doesn't belong, will put their money where their mouths are.Because after all, these are the same schools complaining about the BCS, and that's just one more obstacle for this program to climb. And they seem to be doing a fine job without the help of AQ teams.Unlike my beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, I cannot name off the entire roster or the strengths and weaknesses of the offensive and defensive schemes that coach Chris Peterson has in place, but just ask Oklahoma and Virginia Tech if this Boise State team is a quality adversary.I think they will tell you exactly what Bronco Nation has been telling us all along. There are a few members of the Bronco Nation who recently read an article I wrote, and left comments of their disapproval. There were statements of my lack of objectivity, Reebok Chicago Bears #6 Jay Cutler Realtree camo Jersey
and lack of understanding Boise State University. They were absolutely correct.Just like many people that condemn something because they don't understand it, I too took shots at Boise State. And for that, I offer my apologies to Bronco Nation. After doing a bit of research, and learning about this programs background, I think the Broncos are exactly where they should be.Thanks for the read, and I always welcome comments and feedback.

15 Jan 11 New Orleans Saints Sean Payton Deuce McAlister Donte Stallworth Joe Horn Drew Brees Jamaal Brown Jim Haslett

Last week, the New Orleans Saints players took a few shots at new head coach Sean Payton. But it was all in fun.As part of a "team-building exercise," Payton took his team to the New Orleans suburb of Mandeville to a pro-sized paintball course. And he made it to the final game before he was plugged (or splattered) by strong safety and special teams leader Steve Gleason."When we got there, we already knew what teams we were going to be on," said DE Will Smith on the Saints' Website. "I've been paintballing before, but I've never been on a course that big, so it was a lot ofDetroit Lions
fun."As far as football is concerned, however, many of the Saints still don't know what teams they'll be on -- first, second, third or out on the waiver wire. Payton makes no apologies for that."Upsetting the apple cart when you're 13-3 is one thing, but upsetting it when you're 3-13 is another," said Payton, who served as the Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator last season. He mentions that 2005 record a lot, because it serves as instant validation to any changes he decides to make. As Albert Einstein once said: "The definition of insanity is someone who keeps doing the same thing expecting a different result."When questions were raised about drafting Alabama safety Roman Harper in the second round of the draft when the Saints were apparently well-stocked at that position, Payton pointed out: "We were 3-13 last year. We're not set anywhere."Nor was anyone concerned that the feelings of star running back Deuce McAlister might have been bruised by the Saints' drafting Reggie Bush. The depth chart provided on the Saints' web page is full of empty spaces, some of them on the lines marked "first team." As far as Payton is concerned, it's all up for grabs.A lot was written after Payton's hiring about how he was a Bill Parcells disciple and thus stressed discipline and preparation -- all of which is true. Green Bay Packers jersey
But he's also one of the youngest coaches in the league at 42, and his major at Eastern Illinois (where he threw for the third-most career yards in NCAA history) was communications.Like all new coaches, Payton knows he has to walk a fine line in his first interactions with his players. Parcells-like, he instituted rigorous practices and chastised more than a few Saints for being out of shape. Wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, one of the team's few productive wideouts besides veteran Joe Horn, was benched for showing up late to a workout. But players will tolerate toughness if they think the coach dispensing it can help them win. And the Saints are starved for that.Already, Payton has begun putting his mark on this team. As a respected quarterback coach, he was one of the main factors luring Drew Brees to New Orleans. In spring drills, he gave his team a taste of some new offensive sets and a somewhat different philosophy than his predecessor, Jim Haslett. He moved right tackle Jamaal Brown to the left side."I think we need this," Horn said. "We needed a fresh start."Spring Houston Texans jersey
drills were taxing and pre-season workouts in the wilting August heat of South Louisiana promise to be even worse. Payton has established his philosophy and his authority. So perhaps the paintball excursion was a way of letting the players know that he's not without a sense of humor and fun.For the New Orleans Saints, after all, last season was anything but fun. - Get more on Sean Payton and his Saints

14 Jan 11 Carolina Panthers Drew Carter Keyshawn Johnson Steve Smith David Carr Jake Delhomme Keary Colbert DeAngelo Williams Deshaun Foster

After the recent addition of quarterback David Carr, the Carolina Panthers' offensive attack seems set. Now the team has two capable QBs in incumbent starter Jake Delhomme and Carr, a duo of star wide receivers in Keyshawn Johnson and Steve Smith, and a pair of talented young running backs in Chicago Bears jersey
DeAngelo Williams and Deshaun Foster. The Panthers still have WR Keary Colbert on the roster, who has played well in spurts over the past few years. The offensive line is also pretty solid. At first glance, the offense indeed looks ready to wreak havoc.Appearances can be deceiving -- the Panthers' offense needs a few more things. The most glaring needs are at tight end and offensive tackle, but the WR position also needs to be addressed. Yes, on paper receiver looks like the strength of Carolina's offense. However, games aren't played on paper. Smith is injury prone, Johnson is aging and Colbert is wildly inconsistent. Considering these issues, the Panthers definitely need to add another reliable receiver, especially considering how erratic both Delhomme and Carr have been the last couple of seasons. To find that reliable receiver, the Panthers need only to look at last year's roster. Retaining restricted free agent Drew Carter would be a huge shot in the arm for the entire offense. Even though he hasn't had a ton of success, Carter made some big plays last year despite being stuck behind two of the NFL's best wideouts. Furthermore, he's young (25), fast and big -- 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. Despite gobs of potential, Carter remains an unknown commodity. He was injured off and on throughout his entire collegiate career at Ohio State, where he also was stuck behind stars like Michael Jenkins, Chris Gamble and Santonio Holmes on the depth chart. His pro career hasn't been much different, as he has totaled 33 receptions, 460 yards and four Cincinnati Bengals jersey
touchdowns in two seasons. The numbers don't tell the whole story, though, as Carter has played exceptionally well when he receives snaps.Still, Carter isn't getting a whole lot of attention. Perhaps it's the second-round tender the Panthers placed on him, which means any team that matched the Panthers' offer and signed Carter would have to send back a second-round pick. Still, there are plenty of teams that are in desperate need of a receiver, like Kansas City and Minnesota, that might consider trading a middle- or late-round pick for Carter. Maybe the only reason a Carter trade hasn't been discussed is because of the strong class of receivers in the upcoming NFL draft.Speaking of the which, the Panthers would be wise to not select a WR, instead signing Carter to a longer deal. This move would be partially to prevent the unlikely event of another team signing him and paying the required tender, but the real intent would be to keep him from becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2008. If that happens he will almost certainly sign elsewhere, somewhere where he would be all but promised a starting job. By locking Carter up the Panthers will get back the equivalent of a first- or second-round receiver in the upcoming draft and still have the picks to fill holes at tight end, offensive tackle, linebacker and Cleveland Browns jersey
safety. The option of trading Carter for a fourth- or fifth-round pick just isn't worth it.If the Panthers go out and make sure they keep Carter for more than one year, the offense will be in much better shape and there will be one fewer position of need to focus on during the draft. Those are positive steps for a team fresh off an 8-8 season with lots of holes to fill.

13 Jan 11 NBA Star Search (Jan. 14): The Mother of All Recaps

Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesThis article will explore each night's true "ballers," as we shine a light on anyone and everyone who has a truly noteworthy performance. Any player who breaks 30 points, 20 rebounds, 20 assists, or has a triple-double will make this column in some form or another. Look no further to Washington Redskins jersey
get the best, quickest recap of the previous night's action than by checking who did what, right here , right now: Gimme That Scoring TitlePhoenix Suns @ Indiana Pacers Danny Granger went off for 33 points, torching the Suns (and beating them at their own game) by hitting 5-of-9 treys, while also grabbing eight rebounds. Granger was hot all night long, as he dropped in 11-of-22 shots, and went 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in Indy's 122-114 win at home. Los Angeles Lakers @ Dallas Mavericks It was in a losing effort, but Dirk Nowitzki hit 30 points, which earns him the right to see his name typed in a B/R column (at the very least). Nowitzki also quietly grabbed 16 boards, while shooting 11-of-22 from the field in the Mavericks' home loss. Oh, and here's some food for thought; Dirk became just the 34th NBA player to reach 20,000 points in a career.Miami Heat @ Golden State WarriorsDwyane Wade delivered the night's last 30+ point performance, as his Heat played the final game of the night, and won, 115-102.Wade finished the game with 35 points, hitting 10-of-15 shots and sinking all 15 of his attempted free throws. Just for good measure, Wade flirted with a triple-double, as he also chipped in nine assists and seven rebounds.Minnesota Timberwolves @ Houston RocketsIt took him three overtimes and over 59 minutes of play, but Houston point guard Aaron Brooks got himself some mad pointage. The second-year starter racked up 43 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three-ball land, while shooting a solid 14-of-30 overall. It was Reebok Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald Realtree camo Jersey
quite a night in one of the most thrilling NBA games of the season. Hittin' the Glass Minnesota Timberwolves @ Houston RocketsIn a game that went into three overtimes, Al Jefferson fought with the likes of Luis Scola, Carl Landry, and Chuck Hayes (until he fouled out), on his way to 26 points and a whopping 26 rebounds.Jefferson, whether you choose to believe it or not, is still a beast on the glass. And this was done, mind you, with teammate Kevin Love stealing another 13 boards.San Antonio Spurs @ Oklahoma City Thunder DeJuan Blair had the game of his life on Wednesday night, as he went to work against the Thunder, scoring 28 points, while going 11-of-17 from the field. But that wasn't what hit home. That same tenacity and insane effort we grew to love while Blair was at Pittsburgh was alive and well for Blair, as he hauled in 21 rebounds, while grabbing an amazing 10 on the offensive end. A double-double in the 20's. Now that's a rookie making a name for himself .New York Knicks @ Philadelphia 76ers Samuel Dalembert went nasty at the glass against the Knicks, tearing down 21 rebounds (seven offensive), while also doing his part in the scoring column, dropping in a decent 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting.New Orleans Hornets @ Los Angeles Clippers All of L.A. Reebok Baltimore Ravens #5 Joe Flacco Realtree camo Jersey
(except for the Lakers) is disappointed with the news that rookie Blake Griffin will miss the remainder of the season , but that didn't stop Marcus Camby from breaking out a traditional beast-like performance. The 35-year old (never gonna get old) center grabbed an impressive 20 rebounds, while matching DeJuan Blair's 10 on the offensive side. Sick. Just plain sick. For more NBA news and featured articles, go here .

12 Jan 11 Trail Blazers-Rockets: Positional Matchup Preview

Jonathan Ferrey/Getty ImagesHouston Rockets coverage at Rockets Buzz and The Dream Shake.BlazersAnalysis RocketsPGAaron Brooks has made himself a borderline all-star for Houston. His game is perfectly fitted for the NBA. None of our point guards will contain him in Houston and with Lowry Miami Dolphins jersey
backing him up, we're in trouble. Hopefully Bayless can provide a spark off the bench, but this is the Rockets' best advantage.PGSGTrevor Ariza began the season scoring in bunches but lately he's slowed down. His numbers are leveling off but he's still a great defensive player and good all around for this team. I'm going out on a limb here thinking that Steve Blake and Rudy Fernandez will pick up the slack. Solid games for both and a matchup victory.SGSFThis could be a tremendous overall matchup and one to watch carefully. With Nicolas Batum's recent emergence as a scoring option, it will be interesting to see who attempts to guard him. On the flip side, who will Nic be guard for the Rockets? The hot guy? Who knows, but Martell needs to get off in this game, his shot will be there, and the Blazers will win the matchup.SFPFThis is a pretty bad matchup for LaMarcus. Scola and Landry combined are tough interior defenders and present difficulties on the boards as well. It would be nice if LA could mix it up a little, but I suspect we'll see a lot of jumpers. Perhaps Cunningham can provide some resistance on defense, but not likely.PFCFor once, the Blazer's undersized medium's will be facing somewhat similar "height challenged" opponents for Houston. Chuck Hayes doesn't do much offensively Minnesota Vikings
but he's a defensive stud. Landry and David Anderson will probably also play some center, and I think in Houston their bigs will make it very tough for Juwan and Jeff. Houston is a terrible overall matchup and I don't see this game turning out very positive.COverall Winner:

12 Jan 11 NBa's Future Forecast: Looks Like Thunder

Stephen Dunn/Getty ImagesBack in the day, which was a Wednesday by the way, me and my roommates used to discuss for hours upon hours upon more hours about the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Hell, we even threw in some Tennis and Soccer when the occasion presented itself. One thing we always focused on was the future of certain teams and certain players we loved to watch and loved to debate about.I remember endless nights where my roommates Fraz, Fitz, Ricky, and I constantly debated who would go where in free agency, what teams had enough to make a run in Reebok San Francisco 49ers #21 Frank GORE Realtree camo Jersey
the end, and even which celeb athletes would wind up in the oddest situations in the celebrity limelight (See: Kardashian-Odom, Khloe). Back when I was up at school, we had endless discussions about Kevin Durant, and whether or not he would be the superstar that Fitz and I thought he would be. We heard all the criticisms: He's too skinny, he can't rebound in the NBA, will his jump shot translate when he only shot 30% from three in college? and even the ridiculous notion that some analysts had him being nothing more than a bench player in the league someday. I wonder how those idiots feel now.I don't mean to toot my own horn. Actually yes I do, what am I talking about...but I knew this would happen with Kevin Durant. Mr. Durant is enjoying an MVP-like season of the likes in which we haven't seen a youngster do since...Jordan? In his last 30 games, Durant has scored 30 points in TWENTY of those games including a stretch of eight games in a row of 30 or more points. Not only is he scoring, he is doing it efficiently. He's averaging 49% shooting, 38% from three point line, and 88% from the free throw line. Oh, and about him rebounding in the NBA...he's averaging 7.5 a game from the small forward position. Did I mention he JUST turned 21 in September. Oh My God. We could be witnessing the next greatest player in that line of players who changed the game: Magic/Bird/Jordan/Lebron/Durant. I finagled with the idea of writing a Durant vs. Lebron blog months ago before the season even started because in my honest opinion, I feel like Durant is going to have a more successful career then Lebron will. Think about it logically... Durant is in Oklahoma City. Not exactly the limelight. Lebron will always be compared to Jordan and he won't be good enough until he wins six rings, whereas no one is expecting anything from Durant. There is much less pressure on Durant to win and win now. Lebron is always going to play with scrub-ass (yeah I just made that up) players in his supporting cast because they have a GM with his head somewhere where it shouldn't be.Danny Ferry makes moves like, "Hey let's sign Shaq for 10 million a year when he'll clog the lane and take up space from Lebron, considering our whole offense has two plays in which Lebron just goes one on one the whole time." Or you hear Mike Brown on the sidelines (wait a second, no you don't because he doesn't actually do anything) screaming at his supporting cast that HE assembled. God forbid they saved the Shaq cap space and signed, I don't know, Jamal Crawford who is averaging 16 a game off the bench for Atlanta. Let's continue with Durant's dream situation that he's in. He has a GM in Sam Presti that knows how to push all the right buttons at the right time. He doesn't panic and go spend 75 million on Charlie Villanueva or Ben Gordon, drafts the right players like Jeff Green, James Harden, and Russel Westbrook, and he actually understands quality role players that he can get for cheap in order to fill gaps and contribute quietly: Thabo Reebok Washington Redskins #98 ORAKPO Realtree camo Jersey
Sefolosha and Nenad Krstic. They have a nucleus that consists of the starting five of Westbrook (most underrated PG in the NBA), Thabo Sefolosha (solid defender, role player), Durant (ahead of his time superstar), Jeff Green (Al-Horford clone but a little skinnier), and Nenad Krstic (underrated Big man), with bench players including James Harden (star in-the-making), Eric Maynor (great backup PG), and Nick Collison (solid rebounder). Jesus Christ... Just look at that roster. Combine that with the fact that the Thunder are STILL 13 million UNDER the salary cap. I just got the chills. Can you tell I'm obsessed with this team? Let's take that 13 million and add 3 million to it for expiring contracts and roster moves at the end of the year, and the Oklahoma City Thunder have 16 million to throw around at that coveted free agent class. My lord, could you imagine if they landed Amare Stoudemire, or (gulp) Chris Bosh. Let's break this down into 4 scenarios which all could realistically happen... Scenario 1: Thunder add Chris Bosh and a lower level guard like, let's say, Rip Hamilton. This gives you a starting five of: Westbrook, Hamilton, Durant, Jeff Green, Chris Bosh. Bench: Harden, Sefolosha, Krstic, Maynor. The Thunder lose a little bit of defense in their starting 5 but gain a knock down shooter in Hamilton and a low post presence that they don't currently have. As well as someone to bang bodies with the Duncans, Bynums, and Yao's of the Western Conference. Scenario 2: Thunder add Carlos Boozer and Raja Bell. Starting Five: Westbrook, Bell, Durant, Green, Boozer. Bench: Harden, Sefolosha, Krstic. Not as flashy of a move as everyone would expect, but that's how OKC works. Strictly a defense move and a low post presence move. Scenario 3: Thunder add Tyson Chandler. S-5: Westbrook, Sefolosha, Durant, Green, Chandler. Finally gives the Thunder a legitimate center to defend the West centers and rebound the ball. Allowing Durant to get out on fastbreaks and easier buckets in transition. Scenario 4: I hope your ready....Thunder add Chris Bosh and Jamal Crawford. Oh Jesus. Starting 5: Westbrook, Sefolosha, Durant, Green, Bosh. Bench: Jamal Crawford, Harden, and Krstic. This would be the ideal situation for the Thunder. They get Bosh, the interior presence they need. Meanwhile they're getting the hottest bench player in the league, and someone who is currently averaging 16 a game. This gives them a scorer off the bench to grow along with Harden and to handle the scoring while Durant is out or out of the play. Reebok Pittsburgh Steelers 43 Troy Polamalu Realtree camo Jersey
I'm absolutely giddy over the future of this team. I don't have a favorite team in the NBA, but the Thunder might have to be them. This team with one or two simple acquisitions could be on top of the league for the next decade. Will we be looking back on the decade in 2020 and debating whether or not OKC was the team of the decade? Will Durant be the next one to bust the door in on the NBA like Jordan did in the late 80s and early 90s?Whatever happens, I'm forecasting the future of the NBA with plenty of Thunder.

10 Jan 11 Are the Lakers a better team without Kobe Bryant?

I keep hearing this one in the media, and frankly I just don't get it.It really seems likeone of themost asinine things that I have ever heard.Without a doubt the Lakers are not a better team without Kobe Bryant on the floor.Considering all his injuries this year, he has been playing superb. It really is a testament to his amazing skill that he is still considered either the best or second best player in the league despite having multiple health issues this year.Even with the injuries, Kobe is averaging 28 PPG, 4.6 APG, 5.3 RPG, and shooting 46.1% from the field. New York Giants jersey
All of those numbers are on par or better than his career numbers.Kobe has sustained a dislocated ring finger, broken index finger, sprained ankle, back spasms, sprained elbow, pulled groin, and 4 stitches in his right eye this year. Plus he has a lingering pinky issue that required surgery in the off-season that has yet to fully recover.Once he gets rested and his bodyrecovers, the Lakers are absolutely a betterteam with him on the court.By: Morgan SpoknyBe sure to check out the Bottom Line Sports Show.blogtalkradio.com/blineEvery Tues 6 Pac, Thurs 6 Pac, and Sun 4 PacBig Time Athletes, Interviews and Attitude.Featured guests include:Stephen A. 9 Jan 11 NBA Power Rankings, Week 19: Mavericks Hurtling Toward the Top

Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesOut Reebok Pittsburgh Steelers James Harrison Realtree camo Jersey
West, the Mavericks, Nuggets, Lakers, and Jazz appear to be separating themselves from the pack as we near the playoffs. In the East, the Cavs appear to have gotten things back in order, and the Celtics are struggling once again. Here's the full NBA rundown as we head into the second-to-last month of the regular season.?1. Cleveland Cavaliers (46-14, Last Week: 2)After losing three in a row to start the Antawn Jamison era, the Cavs have righted the ship and have now won three straight.Since his abysmal 0-12 start with Cleveland, Jamison has started to look more comfortable. He has scored at least 18 points in three of his last four games. It'll be interesting to see how they play without Shaq in the middle.?2. Dallas Mavericks (39-21, Last Week: 7)The Mavericks have won seven straight games, including tough wins over the Lakers and Hawks.Jason Kidd has been going off lately, and posted a ridiculous 19 point-17 assist-16 rebound line in the win over Atlanta last Friday night.?3. Los Angeles Lakers (45-15, Last Week: 1)The Lakers notched a huge win over the Nuggets in LA Sunday afternoon, using 12 assists from Kobe Bryant and 20 points from Lamar Odom to get the job done. They should enjoy a relatively easy week (vs. Indiana, at Miami, at Charlotte) before heading into Orlando Sunday afternoon for a Finals rematch.?4. Orlando Magic (40-20, Last Week: 4)Jameer Nelson had his best individual month of the season in February, averaging about 14 points and seven assists per game. The Magic appear to be the clear-cut second-best team in the East and are deep enough to make a second-consecutive run to the Finals.?5. Denver Nuggets (39-20, Last Week: 5)The Nuggets lost a tough one in Los Angeles Sunday, and it won't get any easier as they have to turn around and face the Suns in Phoenix Monday night.Expect points to be scored in this one, as it is a matchup of the league's two highest-scoring teams.?6. Utah Jazz (38-21, Last Week: 3)In Saturday night's resounding 133-110 win over the Rockets, the Jazz shot a ridiculous 68 percent from the floor, including 14-25 (56 percent) from beyond the arc.Deron Williams enjoyed one of his best games of the season, racking up 35 points (20 in first quarter alone), 13 assists, and seven rebounds.?7. Atlanta Hawks (37-21, Last Week: 11)Atlanta is currently a half-game ahead of the Celtics for third place in the Eastern Conference, but don't be surprised if that number starts to grow.?The Hawks' upcoming schedule: at Chicago, vs. Philadelphia, vs. Golden State, at Miami, at New Reebok San Francisco 49ers #21 Frank GORE Realtree camo Jersey
York, at Washington, vs. Detroit.?8. Phoenix Suns (37-24, Last Week: 9)The Suns were a missed Jason Richardson fastbreak dunk away from possibly taking the Spurs to overtime Sunday afternoon.Of all the players on the Phoenix roster, is there a player you'd expect to miss a dunk like that less than Richardson??9. Oklahoma City Thunder (35-23, Last Week: 6)OKC rebounded from tough back-to-back losses against Phoenix and San Antonio with wins over the terrible T-Wolves and shorthanded Raptors. They'll travel to Denver to face the Nuggets this Wednesday in what is sure to be one of the more exciting games of the week.?10. Boston Celtics (36-21, Last Week: 8)The Celtics lost to the Nets on Saturday.Need I say more about their dwindling championship aspirations??11. San Antonio Spurs (33-24, Last Week: 13)As touched on here , the Spurs are in the same boat as the Celtics in terms of contending for a title this season. They haven't been consistent all season long, and their window to win another championship with Tim Duncan as their centerpiece appears to be closing quickly.?12. Portland Trail Blazers (35-27, Last Week: 12)Second-year forward Nicolas Batum erupted last Saturday at Minnesota, pouring in 31 points (11-16 FG, 5-8 3P), seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.?With Travis Outlaw now a Clipper, expect Batum's minutes to continue to rise, and his production should follow.?13. Milwaukee Bucks (30-29, Last Week: 18)Prior to Sunday's narrow loss at Atlanta, the Bucks had won six in a row and were one of the league's hottest teams.?John Salmons has been a huge acquisition for them and he's led them in scoring in all but two games since his arrival from Chicago.?14. Chicago Bulls (31-28, Last Week: 15)The Bulls' lack of consistency remains a concern, especially headed into a tough stretch that pits them against Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, Utah, Orlando, and Miami.Surprisingly, Chicago has played fairly well since trading a few key parts at the trade deadline.?15. New Orleans Hornets (31-29, Last Week: 14)The Hornets are currently ninth in the West but are playing some solid basketball.Darren Collison racked up 35 points in Sunday's loss to the Mavs and continues to make a strong, late push for Rookie of the Year honors.?16. Toronto Raptors (31-27, Last Week: 10)The Raptors have lost three in a row and have missed Chris Bosh. They're likely stuck in the bottom half of the Eastern playoff picture, which means a likely first round matchup with either Cleveland, Orlando, Atlanta, or Boston.?17. Charlotte Bobcats (28-29, Last Week: 20)The Bobcats are back up to eighth place out East, just a half-game ahead of the plummeting Heat.Their reward for a solid win over the Grizzlies Friday night?Three straight games against the Mavericks, Celtics, and Lakers.?18. Miami Heat (29-31, Last Week: 16)Without Dwyane Wade, the Heat were faltering, and have fallen out of the playoff picture for the time being.A week's worth of games against the Warriors, Lakers, and Hawks doesn't help anything, either.?19. Houston Rockets (29-29, Last Week: 17)Kevin Martin has scored over 30 points in each of his last two games, but the Rockets are just 1-4 since he arrived from Sacramento on deadline day.The Rockets missed two of their best perimeter Reebok Washington Redskins #98 ORAKPO Realtree camo Jersey
defenders last week (Kyle Lowry and Trevor Ariza), and should be much better off once they return from their respective injuries.?20. Memphis Grizzlies (30-29, Last Week: 19)In Saturday night's win over the Knicks, the Grizzlies' frontcourt of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph combined for 56 points and 38 rebounds.Although he's been putting up hefty stat lines for years, Randolph (and Gasol, for that matter) could actually be a legitimate candidate for the Most Improved Player award.?21. Philadelphia 76ers (22-36, Last Week: 22)The Sixers continue to chug along well-below .500, but young guard Lou Williams has been playing very well lately. In the last five games, Williams is averaging 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game. With Allen Iverson gone, Williams is seeing much more time at shooting guard.?22. Washington Wizards (21-36, Last Week: 21)Andray Blatche continues to flourish since the trade of Antawn Jamison. The fourth-year forward is averaging 27 points, 12 rebounds, and almost two blocks per game in the last five.?Apparently, all he needed was an opportunity.?23. Los Angeles Clippers (24-35, Last Week: 24)Drew Gooden is another player that has flourished since the deadline, and he's scored at least 15 points and grabbed at least eight rebounds in each of his last three games.Though he's been a solid contributor for years, the Clippers are Gooden's ninth team in just eight NBA seasons.?24. Detroit Pistons (21-38, Last Week: 23)Needless to say, expect the Pistons to draft a big man in this year's draft. They're built entirely around perimeter players and have suffered through an awful season as a result.?25. Sacramento Kings (20-39, Last Week: 27)The Kings have been playing a little better lately and were able to steal an impressive win at home against the Jazz last Friday.Tyreke Evans (20.4 points, 5.4 assists) continues to be one of the more impressive rookies in recent years.?26. Indiana Pacers (20-39, Last Week: 26)The Pacers reportedly released guard Travis Deiner Monday.?Big news, I know.?27. Golden State Warriors (17-41, Last Week: 29)Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins will not be with the Warriors as they take their tour through the Southeast Division this week.Their next four games take them to Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, and Reebok Pittsburgh Steelers 43 Troy Polamalu Realtree camo Jersey
Charlotte.?28. New York Knicks (20-38, Last Week: 25)Still waiting for 2010.?The Knicks are scuffling and are just 1-9 in their last 10 games. It doesn't help that T-Mac sat out for the entire second half Saturday night with knee stiffness.?29. Minnesota Timberwolves (14-47, Last Week: 28)Easy schedule ahead for the Timberwolves.Dallas, Houston, Dallas, Denver, San Antonio.Nice.?30. New Jersey Nets (6-53, Last Week: 30)They beat the Celtics in Boston.I don't even know what to say. They should probably have a parade.

8 Jan 11 Keys To the Wolf Den: Al Jefferson Will Be Traded for Love

Jed Jacobsohn/Getty ImagesYeah I said it before, Kevin Love will be an All-Star before it's all said and done.At the mere age of 21 years old, he's averaging a 15 points and 11 rebounds in only 29 MPG.Appearing fat, a little slow, not particularly strong, Kevin Love has the intangibles to be an all-star power Reebok Pittsburgh Steelers 43 Troy Polamalu Realtree camo Jersey
forward, and one of the best rebounders to ever play the game.Possessing a variety of incredible skills that separate him from typical big man, Kevin Love is litterally a Jigsaw in a world of etch-a-sketches.Young players have tendencies to be immature, inconsistent, and insecure about their roles due to their youth, Kevin Love is no exception.Kevin Love has been moved to the bench to help the Minnesota Timberwolves become a stronger basketball team overall, by providing balanced scoring and rebounding, as well as a decent effort on both ends of the floor.Possessing the skills of a guard, yet the speed of a tank (slow), Kevin Love has the intangibles to play the small forward position, and prior to his drafting had stated on numerous occasions that it would take many years of weight and speed training to be able to do so, and that he would work on it over the years.Assuming that by the time he hits 25, he'll be able to play three positions and play them well, by being able to shoot the ball from the three point line (39%), rebound the ball with maximum efficiency, and score in the low post that compliments all of the intangible things that he does, and you have one of the more complete players in the NBA.The Minnesota Timberwolves see Kevin Love as "untouchable", and there are plenty of Reebok Green Bay Packers 21 Charles Woodson Realtree camo Jersey
reasons why.But there's a player that stands in the way of Kevin Love's future stardom, and that's Al Jefferson, a player similar in height and weight that both play the same position. There have been many questions as to whether Al Jefferson and Kevin Love can play together for the long term. Many say yes and many say no.Al Jefferson is notorious for his horrible defense, I however thought there was room for improvement, until a recent defeat against the Dallas Mavericks had the announcers make a sad, but true discovery about Al Jefferson. An outlet pass was thrown to a wing player by the Mavericks, and Al Jefferson was running toward the player bound to receive the ball, the ball was traveling through the air, and Al Jefferson did not even bother to look at the ball that was blatantly right behind him to the point where he could have grabbed it in the air.The announcers stated "that's how you know Al Jefferson could not have been a wide receiver because he cannot run and guard and watch where the ball is going". In other words, he has no defensive awareness.Shot blocking, timing and defensive intensity can be improved, but defensive awareness is an instinct, and if your not born with it, I'm sorry, but there's no changing or learning that.On the offensive end, Al Jefferson is a powerhouse and a force to reckoned with, but with the Wolves giving up 120+ points 14 times, they desperately need defensive intensity and shot blocking. This upcoming 2010 NBA draft will symbolize something, pretty much the same thing that the 2009 NBA draft symbolized. Cleaning out the junk and bringing in the new and improved. Although Al Jefferson does not qualify as junk, more than likely he will be traded, it's almost inevitable.Think of it like this. The 2010 NBA draft features centers and wing players predominately, the two positions that the Wolves desperately need. More than likely, the Wolves will try to trade up and garnish two top ten picks to add to the young nucleus forming already.Al Jefferson more than likely Reebok Minnesota Vikings #84 Randy Moss Realtree camo Jersey
will be a huge trade chip, by GM's knowing that he's going to be 100% in rhythm, and needing a go-to scorer in the paint (Utah Jazz's Knicks pick). This also helps the development of Kevin Love, a player that should show much more improvement on both sides of the floor with added playing time and responsibilities.
